Supported operating systems
Overseer manages Windows computers only. This page lists the desktop and server versions of Windows the Overseer agent supports, and what falls outside that list.
What Overseer supports
Overseer manages a computer through the Overseer agent, a lightweight service installed on it. A computer can be managed when the agent can run on its operating system.
The agent runs on Windows, on both desktop and server versions. Overseer does not manage any other platform.
Desktop versions
| Windows version | Supported |
|---|---|
| Windows 11 | Yes |
| Windows 10 | Yes |
All editions of Windows 10 and Windows 11 are supported.

| Windows Server 2022 | Yes |
| Windows Server 2019 | Yes |

Server Core installations are included. Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 are supported only while the computer is covered by Extended Security Updates.
What is not supported
- Other operating systems. macOS, Linux and Unix computers cannot be managed. The agent is for Windows only.
- Windows versions that are out of support. Windows 7 and other versions that no longer receive updates are not supported. Upgrade the computer.
Checking which versions you have
Reporting includes a Windows OS Lifecycles report. Use it to see which versions of Windows your computers are running and to find the ones that need upgrading before they fall off the supported list.
